Dr. Markie IDOWU

Dr. Markie Idowu is an award-winning, multi-talented leader with over 36 years of experience spanning banking, technology, and fintech. She has held senior roles at GTBank, Fidelity Bank, and Polaris Bank, where she served as Executive Director for both Retail and Lagos Commercial Banking and Technology and Service.

In the past five years, she has led Xpress Payment Solutions Ltd as Group Managing Director/CEO, steering innovation and growth in Nigeria’s fintech space. She is known for her expertise in business transformation, policy development, and strategic execution, with a track record of revenue and performance growth.

Dr. Idowu earned an MSc in Software Engineering (Distinction) from Aston University, UK, a First-Class BSc in Computer Science from the University of Benin, an MBA from Lagos Business School, and a PhD in Credit Management. She has also completed executive programs at Harvard, MIT, LSE, INSEAD, Euromoney, and LBS.

She is Vice-President of Council at NICA, Chairperson of Women in Technology Nigeria (WITIN), and a member of IoD and CIBN. Her awards include Digital Woman of the Year (2024) and Best Female Fintech CEO (2022).

Dr. Markie currently serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director on the boards of Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria, Nigerian Mortgage Refinance Company, and NSIA Insurance Limited, with past board roles at MainOne, Polaris, IHS, and Equity Assurance.
